Visualizing: Sound explored

Taking the previous sketch a bit further. I’m still not satifisfied with this exploration and want to push it more. I adandoned the sonia library in favor of the minim libs, primarily for the ease of averaging the spectrum on a logarithmic scale.

The rest of the changes are largely aesthetic. The historical sound data is stored in an array, which allows the sketch to redraw each frame anew and permits dynamic adjustments in the view is existing data. Specifically, now the sketch is in 3D and has camera controls for flying into and around the scene.

Also, I wasn’t happy with the grid used before. There was an artificial break in the continuum from one line to the next. Working with limited space, and inspired by the radial nature of sound waves expanding from a source, I took some liberty and used a spiral.

Still need to work with color more…
